Eucaristia e sinodalità dopo il concilio Vaticano II

Abstract

L’articolo approfondisce il nesso teologico ed ecclesiologico tra Eucaristia e sinodalità, mostrando come la comunione eucaristica costituisca il principio e il modello della comunione sinodale. Dopo aver esaminato le radici etimologiche di sy´naxis e sy´nodos, si sottolinea che la sinodalità non è semplicemente un “camminare insieme”, ma un “camminare con Cristo”, fonte e fine della Chiesa. L’icona evangelica dei discepoli di Emmaus diventa la chiave ermeneutica per comprendere l’intreccio tra ascolto della Parola, frazione del pane e missione. L’Eucaristia, infatti, plasma la forma ecclesiale del “noi” credente, trasformando la comunità in popolo pellegrino e missionario. Riprendendo san Giovanni Crisostomo, l’articolo chiarisce che la Chiesa è sy´stema e sy´nodos, realtà armonica e ordinata, dove l’unità nasce dall’azione eucaristica. Ne consegue che la sinodalità, privata del suo fondamento eucaristico, perderebbe la sua identità cristologica e sacramentale.

The paper explores the theological and ecclesiological relationship between Eucharist and synodality, arguing that Eucharistic communion is both the source and the model of synodal communion. After tracing the etymological roots of sy´naxis and sy´nodos, it stresses that synodality is not merely “walking together,” but “walking with Christ,” who is the origin and goal of the Church. The Gospel episode of the disciples of Emmaus provides a hermeneutical key to link listening to the Word, the breaking of bread, and mission. The Eucharist shapes the ecclesial “we” of believers, transforming the community into a pilgrim and missionary people. Drawing on St. John Chrysostom, the paper explains that the Church is sy´stema and sy´nodos, a harmonious and ordered body whose unity flows from the Eucharistic act. Thus, synodality detached from its Eucharistic foundation would lose its Christological and sacramental essence.
