La stigmatizzazione di Francesco d'Assisi

Abstract

Lo studio presenta l’evento della stigmatizzazione di Francesco d’Assisi (1182- 1226). In primo luogo, è affrontata la questione dell’affidabilità delle fonti, antiche e letterarie, francescane e non, relativamente alla storicità del fatto. In secondo luogo, è analizzata la lettura teologica dell’evento: dapprima considerando le fonti sulle stigmate e sulla stigmatizzazione, insieme alla Chartula, scritta da Francesco per l’occasione; infine, considerando gli altri scritti di Francesco e le fonti francescane antiche in connessione con questi.

This study presents the event of the stigmatization of Francis of Assisi (1182- 1226). First, it addresses the question of the reliability of ancient and literary sources, both Franciscan and non-Franciscan, regarding the historicity of the event. Secondly, it analyzes the theological interpretation of the event: first, by considering the sources on the stigmata and stigmatization, together with the Chartula written by Francis for the occasion; finally, by considering Francis’ other writings and the ancient Franciscan sources connected with them.
