Francesco d’Assisi: la parabola della sua vita umana e divina

Una lettura psicologica di come vivere e trasfigurare la sofferenza

Abstract

L’articolo presenta il cammino di san Francesco di Assisi sotto il profilo umano e psicologico. Egli, come ogni essere umano, ha avuto come obiettivo esistenziale la pienezza di vita, ma in realtà nel primo periodo ha brancolato nel buio. Incontrando il lebbroso e Cristo povero e crocifisso, individua il senso della sua esistenza e riesce a trasfigurare anche il dolore. Francesco, benché allevato fin dall’infanzia secondo le vanità del suo tempo, lungo il percorso esistenziale si unifica in Cristo povero e crocifisso. Da questa consapevolezza nasce la necessità di fermare l’attenzione su alcuni elementi della vita di Francesco, per focalizzare delle coordinate che possono illuminare la sua storia. Attraverso una lettura psicologica di alcuni tratti della sua vita, si può cogliere come la dimensione umana e quella divina non si escludono, anzi si intrecciano quando la persona viene in contatto con il Sé reale dove trova il senso della sua vita con cui si identifica.

This article examines the life of St Francis of Assisi from a human and psychological perspective. Like every human being, his ultimate goal was to live life to the full, yet in the early stages of his life he was groping in the dark. Through his encounters with the leper and with the poor, crucified Christ, he discovered the meaning of his existence and was able to transform even his suffering. Although raised from childhood amidst the vanities of his time, Francis, throughout his life’s journey, became one with the poor and crucified Christ. From this realisation arises the need to focus on certain aspects of Francis’s life, in order to highlight key points that can shed light on his story. Through a psychological analysis of certain aspects of his life, one can see how the human and divine dimensions are not mutually exclusive; rather, they intertwine when the person comes into contact with the true Self, where they find the meaning of their life with which they identify.
